Any other Therapists who a built a focus around addiction recovery?

My name is Bretten and I am getting ready to open a massage and wellness studio in Provincetown, Ma. called Under the Bodhi Tree. I am a recovering addict and have recently began to specialize in treating clients that are effected by or in recovery for all forms of addiction, specifically Substance Abuse and Alcohol. Just wondering if there is any one else out there who has specialized int this?

No black belt here. Just one day at a time. I don't care about my anonymity either as long as I am the one to break it, which I am willing to do all the time for the good of Al-Anon. I am serving as their Alternate Delegate for Area 64, Alabama and Northwest Florida. Have been in Al-Anon service since the beginning for me. I love it. It is a wonderful way of life.

I have a black belt in Alanon....Champ is coming up on 21 years sober. and he doesn't give one rip about his anonymity...he says everyone knew it when he was a raving drunk so he'd just as soon they all know he's sober, LOL!

I don't specialize in it. I have been attending Al-Anon for 19 years though. So now you have someone to connect to on this site who understands as few others can. No one has permission to break my Anynonimity except me please. Lois's Story "WHEN LOVE IS NOT ENOUGH" will air on CBS April 25 as a Hall Mark Hall of Fame movie made for TV. I hope you will watch it to understand the family side of addiction. She is the wife of Bill W. founder of Alcoholic Anonymous
I am so happy I stumbled across this! I have close ties to those both struggling through addiction & recovery. It has made me nothing short of passionate about a mission I have been on to formulate a comprehensive program of sorts, that would incorporate bodywork & associated methods of self care for those recovering from addictions. I have been doing extensive research online & have not had much luck on the subject of LMT's working especially in this specific field. I am excited that you are of the same mindset & on the verge of what I am sure will be a successful & rewarding venture! Would love to share resources, however all I can find as of yet are published research studies. Good luck & keep us posted!
Hi Bretten...no I don't focus on massage and addiction recovery but I an thinking about a grant proposal to measure the effects if massage with those who suffer from Bi Polar 1 & 2 mental disorder. Also I am partnering with an addiction management MD who has recently taken up an interest in accupuncture. Maybe you could approach a specialist in addiction pain management and you could support each others alternative health efforts.
Stay in touch I'd be very interested to see how your business focus works out.
Peace

I do not specialize in this, but have clients that have that problem.. I have found that kudzu is wonderful for any craving of addictive behavior, then you can work on the other levels . I have used kudzu for smoking and it worked wonders for me.. Wishing you lots of good luck and joy in your new job.. love the name of the place,
Thanks for the info. I love Hall Mark movies.. so will be looking for it..this should be a really great one.
