I found this on Twitter. A bunch of skeptics try to commit a mass suicide using homeopathy. In Great Britain, homeopathy is covered under health care benefits. I posted this on the Evidence-Based site as well.

The 'science' behind homeopathy believes that the shape of water molecules is changed, and that this is the mechanism of it's action. Organisms respond to this change as though a 'real' substance is present.
Personally I've had great results with homeopathics prescribed by general practitioner who had studied for years and chose to treat his patients this way. Placebo ?? Maybe.
This friend (recently deceased) would always admit that specific remedies were not always easy to prescribe, but he had a thriving practice and great success. He was also the most compassionate, honest and ethical person I've ever known. Again, placebo as he was greatly loved and trusted?
So, if the organism is responding to an altered shape of a molecule of water, would that mean that only the corresponding malady is treated? All else unaffected? I believe this is possible.

Reminded me of the Jim Jones mass suicide. And--who's to say that any substance, should you take enough of it, or something that you might have an allergy to, couldn't cause death? People have been known to die from an overload of plain old water.

Hi Laura.

Why do you say it is bizarre? It seems like a clever demonstration to me.
