What percentage of your clientele are female, and what percentage are male?  Just make an educated guess...  For me its about 80% female and 20% male...

I do appointment/expense tracking on www.bodyworkbuddy.com and it shows that my clientele is 84% female/16%male

Educated guess is 85% female, 15% male (more if you count my Vietnam Vet that comes twice a week! :) ).

ABMP's most recent study shows that 20% of women received a massage in 2010 and 13% of men. If this 80/20, 85/15 split is generally true, it seems like that would mean women receive significantly more frequent massages than men.

I would be interested in knowing if the typical split is pretty much true across all modalities, or if there are certain ones that attract a significantly higher number of men or women. (Apart from the obvious ones like pregnancy massage!)

I very rarely do facials but I have a male client who comes every 2 weeks for a Deep Tissue Massage and a Facial.. So i'd be willing to bet even though my overall is 84% female.. because of this client Facial clients would be mostly male. With my male % being so low, I also have a male client every 2 weeks who gets a 90 minute Swedish Massage so with men swedish vs deep tissue, b/c of him swedish would probably win. It all depends on the therapist, clients, and location.. It would take alot of information from all different areas to come up with a good census of modalities.

60/40, mostly male. I think that is because I do not do any spa type massage or treatments, my work focuses on pain and dysfunction. If someone wants a full body massage, I refer them out.
