My husband was recently diagnosed with MS.... as a massage therapist I have been doing some research on line in regards to this disease. I have to admit to being overwhelmed and would love to hear some direction or input in regards to what is the best treatment for MS clients?

I would recommend spending a couple weeks at Meir Shneider's School of Self Healing http://www.self-healing.org/ for both of you. There is a class coming up in October. You can enroll as a student and your husband as a patient. I learned so much about MS and ways to work with it when I attended. He taught exercises, massage and icing to lessen the effects and increase activity.

I hope you give the school in San Francisco a call. If you go I'll give you the name and number of a woman who rents out rooms reasonably.
Hello, you can try my child Tuina massage or go to China Bama longevity village .You know more in my blogs,Groups and Forum.
Hope your husband with health soon.

"My husbands trade is a carpenter/cabinet installer and his strength is no longer there in order for him to continue his line of work. Because it is so new to him, I know that he is still trying to accept his disease.... I belive he will have to go through occupational training. We will be seeing a nuerologist this month to get the type of MS he has."

Hi - Your message was posted a year ago, so I am uncertain if you will see this. If you do, I would greatly appreciate the chance to talk via email. My other half has had MS for 24 years, diagnosed at age 26. He is an amazing man, has been adapting to all the stages of the disease, and is doing his best to be as healthy as possible. He is now in a chair full-time and requires lifts to transfer as the upper body strength is gone and even use of his arms and torso stabilization has almost completely gone. He was a furniture maker and had a business and shop behind his home for a significant number of years, even after the MS progressed to where he needed to use a chair most of the time. His diagnosed changed from Relapsing-Remitting to Secondary Progressive and we would love to know another couple dealing with MS.
Hi Patricia -

Since it has been a year since you posted this message, I'm not sure if you are still visiting the site, but I would like to talk with you about Reiki and how it has helped you. My other half has been suffering with this disease for 24 years, the last 20 being secondary progressive. I am trying to find bodywork and holistic therapies that would help reduce the constant pain he has from the knees to his feet.

Hope you reply -
Diana

Laura,
I am new to this group. I have been massaging almost 10 years. I have MS! Yes, that is true. I work 4 days a week, and it is exhausting, but I love it. I have had 2 major episodes in 5 years. But I find the positive attitude I carry is the key to everything. When first diagnosed, I learned Reiki to help myself. It is amazing. I am a Reiki Master, and it is a good healing tool. I rarely have problems other than the fatique. But I think if one is positive, that is the big key. I do take an injection every evening at dinner time. No big deal. Maybe I am lucky, but I am mostly happy! I think masage and Reiki have saved me. And Yes, I do used deep pressure, and work on 4 clients a day. It's about being positive no matter what!

Laura, I have been treating someone with MS. For now 2 years with great success. As for style and pressure; I go back to the fundamentals of the basics taught in school. Listening to your clients. I believe in TCM theory treating each individual. I find that even though contradications should be of course kept in mind along with indications every individual case should be treated as such. My client sometimes wants more pressure then swedish, and has positive results. Case in point listening and checking in with your client and adapting as necessary to their needs and what is working vs what hasn't been working. Good luck to you and your husband, positive thoughts and positive blessings to come your way!
I hope your husband to try Chinese the image-numberology of the Eight Diagrams. He does subvocalization the nember 0006 anytime. You can write the nember then put it to his head too.let me know if he appears other symptoms.Wonders can be true.Do it,wonders can be true.
luck,
