I have a client that has active trigger points in her right Piriformis referring pain in and around the sacrum & Greater Trochanter. However, when I place static pressure on the tps she says she also feels pain being referred around the right side to the anterior hip - the right AIIS and possibly the Pubic Symphysis. I have the trigger points 1 & 2 charts and have referenced the Asher manual and no pain referral areas are shown. I do not own the Travel manuals or I would have already checked them. Has anyone out there experienced similar client pain referral zones?

As far as muscle is concerned, you may want to check the TFL, glute minimus and the adductors since there are a few that originate in that area. And the adductors medially rotate the the hip (opposite of piriformis)
Thanks for the input Frank. I routinely have been working the gluts along with Pin & Stretch on the Hams and some TFL work
I had originally suspected Gracilis but she is so tender on the medial thigh I have avoided it. I will post again next week after I work the adductors.

Yes, I've seen similar patterns before. I suspect that gluteus medius is part of the issue. It wraps around the ilium to attach on the lateral aspect of the ASIS. Working the lateral fibers may help resolve the issue. When I find gluteus medius involved, I often also find issues with iliacus, pectineus, and possibly psoas too. Positional release and AIS are very efficient approaches to resolving these issues - sometimes in less than 10 minutes.
