massage and bodywork professionals

a community of practitioners

Hello everyone,

I got a text on Monday that turned out to be a scam and just wanted to alert you all.

"Cecil" texted me wanting 10 massages for his co workers. He insisted that they all be done the same day and wouldn't answer my questions.  He then kept texting me, asking for a total price.  He first wanted me to come to him, then changed the story to have his "driver" deliver the people.  In true form, he wanted to pay with a credit card, charging $2000.00 with me taking my part and then giving the rest to the driver.

This last request was just like the many scams you have read about on ABMP and AMTA websites. The scammers sure aren't original.

I traced the phone to Utah and found a site where two other people had reported a scam from that number. I blocked him after he wouldn't call me. Lucky, it only cost me some time and a some text fees.

I am reporting the number to AT&T. End of story.

So, if it seems to good to be true, then it is.

Cheers

I get emails similar to this frequently & always mark them as spam.

Rachel,

Yep. I just got an e mail that was very similar to the text scam.  Keywords: body massage, driver, credit card.

I think these people need to stop or get more creative. Woe to the poor MT who falls for this.

Cheers
