Is anyone familiar with the Holistic Honu Wellness Center and the Master Instructor Loea Frank Kawaikapuokalani K. Hewett? http://www.holistichonu.org/#!about. I just ordered three of his CDs from the website. They sound beautiful and will make nice massage background music. Kawaikapuokalani K. Hewett performs Hula in Japan and Hawaii in a two day show. http://www.kahula.jp/jp/. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbeK0siSqsM&feature=results_vide...

Aloha! What left is there to do to but to dis respect Miss understandings. and come to peace with what is. as it is. Embrace the Paradox!

Hawaiian Healing is valued  by effectiveness.  "Not any other value holds the space, of healing  greater than  the consciousness of christ." And by that she Continued, to her, it's love love love.    Margret Machado in 1989, a great common people's  teacher, would be scorned by her own kind for sharing with the out side world.  She  told me 'faith is a personal  private choice, but a public event." Paycheck driven journalist are always at disguise.  Researching publishing rights of the Book Tales of the night rainbow. you will find where the profit is for screaming Tradition.  Might  you  not find it. Daniel, I agree that there might be some benefit for people who know nothing about Hawaii who happen to stumble upon Huna books. However, for people in this lomilomi forum, I believe it is our kuleana or responsibility to ground ourselves in authentic Hawaiian tradition. There are many wonderful books on Hawaiian spirituality written by Hawaiians, such as Tales from the Night Rainbow. Though I used to read Huna books, I stopped because I kept getting confused! it's easier for me to just focus on what is true Hawaiian, because I find the more I learn the more my practice deepens.

Good reviews, there is a whole world of thought as to the value of New Age interpretation of traditional ways. Since a person looking at these things has already their mindset, it will be processed in a non traditional focus.

This leads us to think it is false but I think even falsehood can be of benefit. Some are satisfied in embracing the new age thought that has been created by interpreting to the modern city dweller in a high tech world. But there are the few who will see a way new to them and explore. Perhaps a few of these few will be led into a traditional path. It is a gate to knowledge if we wish to push further. If nothing else it adds a bit of spirituality to the existing world. So inspite of the twists and misdirections by trying relate a traditional philosophy and life experience to the modern techie, there is a glimmer that may lead some further who would not have arrived otherwise.

My own discovery of Yogic Philosophy was from books written around 1900 under the pen name of Ramacharaka, an American who learned from Yogis at the Chicago World Fair.

How interesting are the windings of our paths.

Here are the one star reviews - I don't know everyone who is commenting but do know a couple and know them to be Hawaiian and pono. Also I would urge everyone on this list to look at the Huna is not Hawaiian facebook page - we talked about this book and many others.

That's why I asked Makana. Could you please provide the links to the reviews or comments you think should be read, as well as information on who the reviewers/commentators are. It would be a big help to us who do not know the people as well.

I would urge you to read the 1 star reviews and discussions of this book by Hawaiians on amazon before buying.

Thanks for this comment Daniel.  This is the first I've heard of this book and I just ordered it after reading the exerpts available on Amazon.  I read 3 of his previous books years ago and thoroughly enjoyed them.
