What is Indian head massage?

You know, I thought Indian head massage was one thing. And then I went to India and got quickly disabused of my preconceptions.

What I know for sure and what I like the most though is the breadth of it. There's definitely a yin and a yang to Indian head massage.

What's your experience? Have you had anyone beat on your head yet? How about that hypnotic stroking. There should be little grandmothers that come around the neighborhoods at night stroking all the childrens' heads, and maybe the adults too....
