I've been a massage therapist for almost 8 years. Several years ago I decided I want to teach women about self breast massage. I became a certified lymphedema therapist to help understand the lymphatic system. I have yet to take a breast massage class, but I'm anxious to onc work that much so I feel I still need more training. I joined this forum to connect with others who are doing the work. It seems like the activity of this forum had dropped. I hope to open more discussion as I move forward in this area. This is my blog. I post every blue moon, but I expect to do better in the future. http://www.holisticbreasthealth.blogspot.com Also, this is my facebook page.https://www.facebook.com/pages/Holistic-Breast-Health-and-other-sel...

Women find it incredibly helpful for a whole list of things including prevention! http://www.fortcollinslymph-massage.com/breast-massage.html
Permalink Reply by Daniel Cohen on February 26, 2012 at 9:24pm Breast/Thoracic work is so important for women's health. Men get chest work usually with massage but don't have as much health issues of the chest.
I find lymphatic massage and MFR among the best techniques to address cysts, fibroids, cancer prevention/recovery. Even being a male Therapist I get asked for this. When health is the question gender of the Therapist is not as important as knowledge and skill.
Good luck in the work.
Permalink Reply by Nancy L. Ring on February 26, 2012 at 9:48pm I know it is taught in pregnancy massage. That is where I learned it. I also learned that some states don't allow it unless you are a medical professional such as a nurse. I am still trying to figure out the laws and regulations for breast massage before I start offering it. I have 2 more years to go before I get my R.N. degree and then I don't need to worry about it.
