Specials and Discounts 2 Replies

How many specials or discounts do you offer new and existing clients to build your business. Is this the best way to keep your business going? If not, what are some ways to build your clientele?

Summer is the perfect time to add a little color to your Mobile Spa Business. While blankets are stored away for the season break out a colorful sarong to lay over the sheets. Sarong's, wraps or any light colorful material will add an extra layer to your table bringing forth good energy and feelings of sun, sand, light and breezy evenings. At least thats what my wraps represent. What wraps will you use?

lol Bridget.....thank you for your reply....unfornately just when I was getting ready to think seriously 'bout starting to do my own thing with massage, I ended up getting a job, so guess it'll take a back seat for awhile anyways. **sighs** Never know when life changes it up on you! :)

Would have been just me though and 1-2 other therapists if I would have needed them during on-site corp. massages though. :) I like to think small until I would have got my name out there a little more. Otherwise my brain doesn't do simple lol.....to many ideas and thoughts for the most part. I tried the listed website for the travel supplies and for some reason it doesn't come up on my computer.

Anyways- just an update! Glad all is going well with you- hope everyone else is well too! Have a great weekend and good 4th! Be safe all. tc

Hi Sam~You need a website, Keep it simple...three pages to start...about you...services page....on line contact page this is where you can attach pdf files for release forms and add to mailing list sort of stuff. Get a tracker for sure on your site and follow the trends...where is you traffic coming from.
If there is no competition in your area your in a good spot. Competition drives price down so start high so you have wiggle room with promotions and discounts etc.
Hire one or two good therapists to start with and develop a signigture treatment for your company to brand yourself.
File your business license, tax info and set up quick books, order brouchures and card on quailty card stock, visit thecomfortstore.com for additonal travel supplies for your company.
Spend your advertising $ on the web, get a good webmaster and stay away from pay for clicks and paid sites to start until you follow your tracker more.
Once you have that in place spend 1/2 day a week visiting local business with your info, dress in a suit not like you are doing a massage. Phone calls come later. Working for free is not my motto unles its a non-profit for a cause.

Business is good! Thank you for asking :)

Seriously considering trying to start an on-site massage business only this time. What differs as strictly an on-site business, compared to having a shop front / full massage business? Any of you that already have yours wanna give me a generalized simple check list of to do things and needed items/ forms, etc. / in sight in doing so for start up? Looking to just start simple and then add as it grows.

Also as a start up business do you provide pricing for services that meet your target clientele / economy or do you price as to what is currently out there. Not many strictly on-site massage businesses here in KC that I know of, most offer shops to go to as well or mostly give their services in chair.

And what's the best contact for meeting with potential businesses you want to work with- calling ? in person ? A simple phone call first and set up an appt ? How is it you I guess sale your services to them? Or what's the best way to get your name out there ?

THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR INPUT and HELP! Enjoy your day! tc

PS- how's everyone's business holding up during these tough times?

Very good idea about the old sheets and blankets, never would have thought of doing that. I will tell my school about this idea as we are all animal lovers too.

When your sheets, towels & blankets have seen their last massage don't throw them out, bring them to your local animal shelter. Shelter's need our worn out linens for our four legged friends. Aromatherapy scented sheets will be an added bonus for some.

When clients ask me how much space I will need, I tell them the same amount of space as a twin size bed or 8"x4". People seem to understand the twin size bed answer better. As far as payment of services. I do require a CC to hold the apt. They are welcome to pay in cash the day of. I do not charge CC until after services are rendered. Contracts for parties are necessary and I use a basic contract form that I downloaded off the Internet and adjust accordingly. Release forms are necessary for all customers and I have this available on my site so customers can fill out prior to services. Thanks for the question. Happy Monday!

My protocol is as follows:
Appointments are held with a credit card. At the time of service you can alternatively use a gift certificate. Each scheduled appointment require a credit card to hold your appointment. Appointments cancelled at least 4 hours prior to scheduled appointment receive 100% refund. Cancellations made less than 4 hours prior to scheduled appointment receive 50% refund. Please, remember your appointment. If I arrive at your home and you are unable to fullfill your appointment request you will be charged the full service price.

Sam, great question. When I send a thank you to my clients I ask them if they would like to post a comment about their experience with my mobile spa I embed a link in the email or a long hand thank you note (whats that?) to a tinyurl address that posts to my posturous account and then gets spread out all over my social networks.
