How far are you willing to travel to do a mobile massage?

Do you set a radius for you and your therapists when taking appointments on the road?  How much more do you charge if your travel time increases?  $.50 per mile is my general rule beyond 25 miles.

Katherine, I agree with Samantha. I tell the client prior to the appointment, usually when they ask, "how does this work" I say, I will set up the table etc. Then step out of the room to wash my hands, you take off your clothes to your comfort level and lie, face up or face down depending, under the sheets and I will check in with you before I walk back into the room. Something like that usually does the trick. Thanks for the question!

Yes going to the bathroom is a good plan. hehe I guess I just don't know what is deemed appropriate. And thank you for your input. The more the better. :)

Most of my clients provide their own music of their own choosing, usually on Direct TV or a satellite. I leave to wash my hands while they get adjusted on the table. I do have one client, who is handicapped, that I do have to help disrobe and get on to the table.

Okay Bridget this might seem like a silly question but I would like to ask how you handle getting the client on the table. Do you do like in massage school clinic where the client wraps the sheet around them with opening in the back and gets on the table? I see some mobile therapists say they provide a robe though..so how are you getting the client on the table and out of the robe without a lot of fuss.
Also I went and bought a portable radio like you suggested. I can't say it sounds like a huge stereo system but I think it will suffice. It plays mp3s and has a place for a thumb drive as wells as being able to play cd's and dvd's (cant wait to take it on a road trip as well) ;). Thanks

A mobile therapist must be equipped with Music. I bring a cheap portable CD player and several CD's. I say cheap because they break and get banged up carrying them around all the time. I do not own an ipod but some of my therapist use this method and I think it is the best. Sound is good and no skipping. Most important less weight in the travel bag. Sometimes I suggest the client turn on the TV to the soundscapes channel and that works great too. But always be prepared with a portable player of some sort. Outside? A portable player with batteries works fine.

I am in the process of starting a mobile spa and wanted to know if most clients want the therapist to provide some type of music player or are most equipped with their own music system and prefer to use that. I'm not sure what would be best. An ipod dock I believe would still need power if using it outside... and I'm not sure how good those sound either.
Any opinions would be appreciated.
