A Place To Relax!!

I hope you will meet new friends and find lost ones through this group. I know, "Life gets in the way," it is busy out there but you should have a place to talk with your peers. I hope you chose this haven for your sanctuary. I honor all of you that have reached this plateau.

The passing of an icon and real pioneer of massage: Auntie Margaret Machado

I just got word of the passing of Auntie Margaret Machado. My prayers and thoughts are with her family. I will be writing up my reflections of Auntie soon. I feel blessed having experienced her hands and her magic as well as having the best compliment regarding my work come from her. Bobbyboy, as I was known to her, will always have a piece of her in my heart. Here is the link for her obit: http://tinyurl.com/y9ntj63

Wow-I guess we are! I started doing massage in 1974, and finally opened a school in 1993 after so many begged for one. Here in the Midwest, it was either California or New England for training. My main thing then, and still to this day, is BODY MECHANICS! Massage is my moving meditation and my power yoga all rolled into one.

I know folks with over 40 years in the business. It depends, on the therapist and how they take care of themselves, along the way.

Just celebrated the 20th anniversary of my enlistment into the USAF which kicked off my 'professional' massage 'career'. How did the time fly so fast!!!! My Physical Therapy training was so incredibly valuable to my massage practice, and then there was the 'field trip' to the ut health science center for a gross anatomy lesson I would never forget (that and it took me forever to get the formaldehyde smell out of my hair...or eat chicken again! LOL). In massage school they taught that the life span of a massage therapist (profession wise) was 10 years.....gee....guess they had some bad info eh?

Hey Pioneers! Mike HInkle has inspired me to create another fun massage video. Any funny events happen in your career as a massage therapist? Do tell and share!
