I personally took a hint from the forum section of this site and created my own geared specifically for local Iowa therapists/students but I leave it open to all. The way I see it is the more information we can collectively gain the closer we can come to achieving our common goal. Its new yet I think its simple enough to be effective for an area. Looking at the overall picture, and recognizing that there are more users utilizing social media as a mean to reach out and stay in contact with friends, career opportunities and industry news than ever before, it seems logical to engage this type of marketing and capitalize on its broad reach while it is still in it's relative infantcy.

Getting started is as easy as creating an account and moving on from there. There are now a number of resources available that educate the user how best to manipulate your social media presence so as to provide the broadest and most effective coverage possible.

From my own experience with Social Media, I can tell you it is the least costly, most effective means to reach your targeted market once you have built your "friend and fan base". People will carry phones and laptops with them regardless where they go. This is truly a direct portal for you to utilize to make your practice, business, group or cause top of mind for your market. When used intelligently, this means of marketing can be truly effective.

Hi, its Scott one of the organizers of the World Massage Conference. At a conference I run in Ontario, where we had Nick Bontis a professor from the DeGroote School of Business. One of his points was on e-mail, and the effect of millions coming online and that our own environment ie. home, auto.....will be communicating with us regularly. The fridge sending us a message we need milk, our car contacting us because it needs service.
Social networking is where we can connect with the people we want to communicate with when time allows.
Soon most of information we know will change faster than we can absorb. As Dr. Bontis says....it will be as important to unlearn things as it is to learn new ideas.
Be well.
