Waving my hands 5 Replies

In massage school my instructor had us wave our hands over the client and say to ourselves " what is mine is mine and what is your's is your's" as a way of grounding. I thought it was a little…Continue

If I have a lot on my mind before a session I'll put a couple of drops of lavender or a calming fusion in my hands and inhale it deeply about 2 - 3 times.  Then I get into the massage music...I'm really  grounded after that!

Love the ideas given here.

For me one of the most important things is going into a session grounded. Helps to do some yoga or walk before my day with clients starts. Also I see a grounding cord from my base into the earth at the beginning of my meditation.
Then if I feel ungrounded I use essential oils, sound, or even stamping my feet a little if I go too far out. Or a quick yoga pose such as mountain or tree.

I find that if I stand by the table and have my hands on the clients back while breathing in fast and out slowly with my eyes closed is a sure fire way to help keep myself grounded.

I have always felt grounded when I am close to water. I find that over the years I have developed my own grounding ritual that I use before and after clients, but now also in my life in general.
Drinking a glass of water before and after a treatment and rinsing my arms and hands in cool water after washing them helps me to feel refreshed and grounded.
I like to start my day watering and tending to my garden. And regular walks through the ocean help too.

I'm a firm believer of staying grounded, as this helps you to be in tune with your clients' energy, yet not take on the negative ones

If there was to ever be a time when I felt a bit " lightheaded" and ungrounded I just have this vision of being this very old tree..(when the roots sometimes surface)..those are the best!!..my feet are those roots grounded into Mother Earth..this visual and body experience helps every time...and for those selected few I sometimes will put a glass of water under the table to help absorb some of the negative garbage that sometimes will try to stay around for a while...cleansing, for me always helps as well...
