Wisconsin Reflexologists: There is a new state organization re-forming. They are gathering information to see how many of us Reflexologists are out there, working and helping our clients. Please send a "hey" here or on the Reflexology site. I will post contact info as soon as I receive it.

A 2011 Consumer Survey conducted by AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association) states that 90% of consumers believe that Massage Therapy is effective at reducing pain (up from 86% in 2010) AND that 30% of consumers have used Massage Therapy for pain relief (up from 25% in 2010).

 

Does anyone have statistics for Reflexology?

Dear Wisconsin Reflexologists,

Natural Selections school of Reflexology located near Green Bay, WI is no longer offering Reflexology training. I do not know how many students are still in need of Reflexology training/certification. Members, would you be so kind as to post Reflexology classes that you come across here and in the other Reflexology groups?

 

I would also contact the state association, Reflexology Professionals of Wisconsin (RPOW), but I am not sure if they are still in existence. If they are, please post the information here.

NEWS FLASH: For those of you who may be looking for liability insurance, the IMA group (International Massage Association) and it's branch of International Reflexology Association (IRA group) are no longer in business due to financial hardship.

I would like to extend a heart-felt welcome to all Wisconsin Reflexologists and Reflexologists from other states, regions and countries. It is my hope that this group will be helpful to all who seek information on Reflexology, who are looking for Reflexology schools, ARCB certification info, CEUs, national organizations, etc.

Good news everyone!
Gov. Doyle signed the bill on massage therapy that requires ALL Wisconsin Massage Therapists to become LICENSED over the next 2 years. And Reflexology, happily, remains EXEMPT from this law. That means that all Wisconsin Reflexologists are safe to practice their vocation without fear of prosecution.
While it may be a little more red-tape for me...hey, I chose to become a massage therapist, too. While I saw the need for licensing of MTs, I did not think it right or fair to require non-MT bodyworkers to become MTs. That is why I joined the Wisconsin Massage Licensing Coalition while I was President of the Reflexology Organization of Wisconsin (R.O.W.), to make sure Reflexology remained EXEMPT.
Several Wisconsin Reflexologists also stepped in to help out with Townhall Meetings and group discussions. The Coalition was so happy with our help, that they promised their support whenever Wisconsin Reflexologists were ready to go the next step...whether it is to become registered, certified or licensed.
I don't know when Wisconsin Reflexology will be ready for that next step. If that is the next step. I don't know. Please share your thoughts...what do you think the next step is for us?
