Searching and Re-Searching pt. 0

My name is Aaron, and I am a research fanatic.  I hold a bachelors in psychology, and the process of getting that degree introduced me to research as a whole.  I have written research proposals, performed research experiments and have presented my findings to my peers.  I spend some (definately not all) of my free time paroosing the internet, looking for new studies, emerging modalities and anything massage related. I honestly think that understanding the research behind this profession can…

Learning to Love Who We Are
The statistics are alarming. The majority of U.S. women–some estimate more than 80 percent–are unhappy with their appearance. At least 10 million young women, and 1 million young men have an eating disorder. Girls as young as 6 and 7 are expressing disapproval of their looks, and most fourth-grade girls are already diet veterans. Most unsettling is the fact that more women, and girls, fear…

Sailing Professionals in San Francisco & finding a replacement.

Have any of you found that there are more sailing pros in SF?

I've been working on good handful in the last couple of months with the America's Cup coming to San Francisco.

My CMT is planning to move to Southern California and I'm starting to interview for a new person to work on me.

I'm in Pain

Yes, I’m in pain. Believe it or not, it pains me to write negatively about the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork. I am personally acquainted with many of the people who work there, from the CEO, Mike Williams, on down, to Board members, staff members and volunteers. I count some of them among my friends. I know for a fact that they are dedicated and hard-working people.

I’ve been NCTMB since 2000 and…

Lower Back Pain? Think Outside the Box

The Weekend Warrior's Toolkit: Tips for Injury Prevention & Treatment

Summer has arrived, and with the season comes the onslaught of weekend warriors. Warm weather and sunshine can be enough to get even the most obstinate couch potatoes up and running. Orthopedic injuries come in second only to the common cold on the list of most common reasons for doctor visits. It's All About Me

It’s all about me, so here’s my wishlist for the profession. It’s difficult to place these in order of importance, because some of them depend on each other, and in my little corner of massage, they’re all important. It’s election time–aren’t we all just about sick of hearing about it–candidates mudslinging and making campaign promises? If I was the President of Massage Land, here’s what I’d do:

The Federation of State Massage Therapy…
