Alliance Founding Member Campaign Enters Final Phase

The Alliance for Massage Therapy Education, a new non-profit organization for massage schools and educators, has been conducting a FOUNDING MEMBER CAMPAIGN over the past several months. Thus far, more than $40,000 has been contributed to help launch the Alliance. This special program will end on December 31.

Founding Members include:
SCHOOLS: Massage Therapy Training Institute (Kansas City, MO); Atlanta School of Massage (Atlanta, GA); Institute of Therapeutic Massage (Ottawa, OH)
CONTINUING ED PROVIDERS: Cherie Sohnen-Moe (Sohnen-Moe Associates); Laura Allen (Thera-ssage, Inc.); Yamuna Zake (Yamuna Body Rolling)
TEACHERS: Joe Muscolino (Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy); Sally Stuckey (Body Therapy Institute); Ronald McKendree (Keiser University)
INDUSTRY PARTNERS: The Art of Admissions (Lex Filipowski); Books of Discovery (Andrew Biel); National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork

These, and other dedicated individuals and institutions have stepped forward in a historic effort to bring forth an organization that will serve as the independent voice, advocate and resource for the entire massage education community. The Founding Member Campaign is drawing to a close, so all interested people are encouraged to go to the Alliance’s website at www.afmte.org for complete information on how to join.

Note that Founding Member contributions will apply to the 2010 dues in each of the membership categories. Those who join by December 31 will have their names listed on a page on the Alliance’s website, and will receive a commemorative certificate that acknowledges their leadership role in establishing the Alliance.

The Alliance’s General Membership Drive will begin in January in all membership categories. Information on the 2010 dues structure, and the features and benefits of membership is posted to the Alliance website. There will also be a special discounted package of membership with registration for the Alliance’s First Annual Conference, to be held in Park City, Utah on June 3-5, 2010.
