hhhmmm...funny thing is most of my clients are male. but most of my clients are mountain bikers. i think athletes typically get massages but that's cause they know the importance to their training.

i think the real question should be how to get men to get [more] massages from other men. THAT is the real issue. I know several men MTs and the biggest issue for them is that men don't want to get a massage from another man. that's when they feel like it's "odd". when i come across a guy that says "oh i could never get a massage from a guy" i ask "is your doctor a man or a woman". so many say it's a man. that's when i educate them on the knowledge of what we do and therefore there is no difference in getting a massage from a guy or a woman. it's a health thing.

one thing you might want to try is offering a free presentation on massage...i.e it's benefits, the education behind it and the process. then advertise the presentation in places where your target clientelle are, as well as gyms and sports facilities.

Some men do not consider massage manly. I know this is "all in their heads", but we help put it there, everyday.

Do therapists advertise in the Wedding Guide or Tool Guide? The question here isn't, "Which will bring the therapist more money?". It is," How do we get more men to get massage?"

Until men, "feel it is normal", see that it is accepted and don't get teased by their "bros", it will be uphill. So how many dollars/energy do we put into advertising to change, "What's all in their heads?"

Talk their women (wifes, girlfriends, mothers) into getting them a gift certificate. They will feel obligated to use it because it cost their women hard earned money! I find that once they use the certificate, they are hooked and rebook. Once they find out how it helps relieve that stubborn neck and shoulder pain (common pain in most people) they become believers in the therapeutic value of massage! Half my practice is men.

Go to golf outings, races, softball games, etc, where men are likely to be hanging out. After a workout when they are much more likely to be sore and in need of massage, set up a chair or table and work on them right there. While you are working on them talk about the benefits of regular massage and give them advice on how to stretch etc. Hopefully you can convince thme that massage is not just a luxury but a necessity in today's stressful world.
