Thx Kris, it works better in my left brain. Now I can relax.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have added the word Proposed in a couple of places. That should help. Let me know if it's clearer now.

@Kris.....hey I commend your action, the FB page. But the opening paragraph is  confusing, and it is about terminology: it is not a new law yet, it is proposed legislation. The way you wrote it, it makes it seem that the law is already in effect.

Can you reword it somehow to make it more plain?

Thank you Tim. Good information. We will still want to make sure that this has no legs. I have written to all the leaders of the committee as well as the bill sponsors voicing my opposition.

she is just a senater who filed a bill on behalf of a business owner in her district.  The person believes that by raising the hours it will legitimize massage therapy in the medical community and would help get insurance reimbursement.  As a nurse & LMT of many years and someone who has worked closely with the field of Physical Therapists..this is not going to happen.  Insurance reimbursement would be a nightmare.  Ask anyone in the medical field their thoughts on it.  Talk to Physical Therapists  who have gone from bachellors to Masters and now to doctoral degress in attempt to be more recognized for insurance.  These folks will tell anyone who listens that insurance would then dictate types of work, the documentation red tape, amount of work someone can receive, etc...besides increasing hours is not going to gaurantee anything (except for increased hours and increased costs).  As for  the arguement of wanting to elevate the profession so that it is respected by the medical community.   Why?  LMT's need to stop worrying about what the medical community does or does not think of our profession and get back to doing the good work that we do.  The medical profession has come a far distance in the past 15 years in how it views massage.  Increasing the hours does not change it.  Improving the quality of the education and of the work being done by LMT's is what gains respect. Research and showing results gets respect

Does anyone know what, if any, experience or education  Ms. Chiang-Diaz has regarding professional massage?

Alexei, thank you for being vigilant and letting us know about the massage bill. I have added a page to Facebook titled Stop MA Massage Law at https://www.facebook.com/pages/manage/?act=21675222#!/pages/Stop-MA... to get people organized and see if we can get a critical mass of voices organized. First step is to get everyone who cares involved. We could get literally thousands if people pass it on to clients and others who would suffer from higher cost of massage. Check it out.

@ Vinny.  You are correct there are only three members.  The Governor's office has recived a number of applications but have not appointed anyone new to the board for over two years.  If concerned you should contact your legislators and the Governor's office

@Sam, you and the people who run your school should contact your state senators and the senators on the joint committee at this link to let them know of your opposition to this bill:

I heard the news today regarding the bill that was submitted. I am currently a student here in Mass and I'm very concerned! What can we do? I want to get involved!
