How many of you are close to Pensacola??? I am looking for some deep relaxing intricate work. Trade or paid I receive plenty of reiki, pranic, and Thai work but not a lot of deep relaxation. I would love a two hour session..

Hi all,

I'm currently getting a new mobile massage service started in Miami. The intention is to become known as the Deep Tissue specialists and really focus on DT/Sports Massage for active people.
I'm contracting enthusiastic therapists now. If you're interested this is the link on Craigslist: http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/spa/1364387664.html.
My website is www.relaxabody.com.
Things are going to turn around soon!

Thanks,

Joe

It's a hard world in FL right now. the economy is beating peopls sensless and locating a clientele is really tough. Also some FL massage schools graduate students by the buss load so there are plenty of us around.I recomend planning for at least 2-3 years operating expenses. Networking is also essential.

Hi Tanya, I moved to FL from Pennsylvania a bit ago and I have had a difficult time establishing a clientele. I have opened a clinic and in this economy I would recommend keeping your overhead as low as possible. Rent a room in an established practice or business. What has worked best for me is joining networking groups which takes time and money in membership dues.

Hi everyone,

I just moved here from Virginia. I am currently working for a resort that I drive 35 minutes one way to get to. Unfortunately, it has been extremely slow and I have spent more money in gas getting to and from work than what I'm getting paid for. The resort and I have both offered specials in bring in business. The clients I have done are extremely happy with my work but usually won't return to the resort for several months since they live in other locations. My husband is encouraging me to work closer to home and maybe rent a space. However, I am unsure since I don't have a clientele. I have seen an opportunity to rent a room in a busy salon. I am looking closer to home at places where I will have more of an opportunity to build a clientele rather than at the resort where there is a constant stream of vacationers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tanya

Delete Post Edit Blog Posts Hello Everyone,
I just joined this blog and I'm interested in hearing from the experienced LMTs out there.

A little background on me:
I spent 25 years in Information Technology and couldn't stand sitting behine a desk anymore.
I figured there had to be more to life then that and after seeing so many people stressed from
working in Corporate America I deceided to open my own business. I ventured into a coffeehouse/cafe business to hopefully give people a nice place to come to, relax and enjoy each others company. Unfortunately after 2 years this wonderful economy forced me to close. So, now I'm trying to figure out what next......

I'm a firm believer in massages. I have gotten many in my lifetime and always promote them to others. Due to experiencing and seeing people sooooo stressed out I've been researching becoming a Massage Therapist. I truly believe we are killing ourselves by what we eat and what we put our bodies through. I've turned to not eating meat and I'm reading, researching00 and visting different schools for MT.

The schools that I have found so far just seem so rigid. So much like a classroom and not intune to the mind, body and spirit avenue. I want to persue training were I learn to connect.

I'm relocating to Orlando and was wondering if anyone can recommend a school?
Also, am I approaching this in the right manner?
What tips/advise can you give me? I'd appreciate anything you think would be helpful!

Thank you,
Linda

The Massage Therapy Body of Knowledge (MTBOK) Project will be holding a Stakeholder (this means you!) input session on 9/24 from 4to 5pm at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in room Wekiwa 6. It is being hosted by the AMTA which like ABMP is one of our Steward organizations, but you DO NOT need to be an AMTA member or even be attending the convention to come to our session - its open to all. I hope to see you there!
