massage and bodywork professionals

a community of practitioners

Many of today's therapists are using formats such as facebook, twitter, youtube and some are even still using myspace. Please share your experience with such formats, if you feel so inclined we invite you to share your address for said format to expand your contact list.

We'd love to hear your stories as to how social media has increased business, benefited you as a person, and increased your knowledge base. What are your secrets? How do you cross promote you on facebook, twitter, linkedin, yahoo, google, youtube, personal web sites, wordpress, blogspot.......

I use my fan page to give people updates. I personally don't think it has increased my business. I found it to be a great tool to connect with clients
Yes, I would like to reciprocally like other massage practitioners' fan pages, so let me start. My facebook fan page is www.facebook.com/laurieanhealing If you "favorite" this page to your page, and also click "like", you can leave me your url. I will certainly reciprocate. Twitter "handle" is laosinger, also ReachThemOnline (my social media management company) Massage blog is www.laurieanhealing.com.blogspot.com Website is www.ReachThemOnline.com
I couldn't agree more with your web designer. Good work! Yes, I have not run my first facebook ad, but I know they are a powerful tool.

I started a facebook fan page also at the urging of my web designer. I think that is great that when someone "fans" it that it shows up in on their page. Also I did a run of FB ads which linked to the fan page and the FB ads have really precise targeting so I got some "fans" that I had worked on years earlier so I am sure that I am back on their mind. I am also planning to do up a nice fan based gift certificate special come next Christmas. Certainly this is not hurting.

I just started running a seepstakes on my page as a way to get more fans. My first drawing will be on May 21 and so far I have had 10 people enter the drawing

Our Facebook, Twitter and YouTube we use primarily to educate the public. So many folks still have the misconception that massage is only about fluffy robes and green tea. It's that, but SO much more. There is so much scientific research that has validated the benefit of bodywork, it's important that folks know about the fact that it helps insomnia, blood pressure, chronic pain...after all, the allopathic medical community does not 'do' chronic well. We can do work that changes lives and helps people understand how their bodies can truly heal. We can help them to understand that caring for our bodies, meditating, being still has tremendous value to our health in this over-stimulated, over-cortisoled world. ;)  SO, our Facebook page for our clinic is http://www.facebook.com/gtstherapeutics   Our page for the Professional Massage Network is http://www.facebook.com/promassagenet

We also have Twitter accounts for those AND my husband and I have personal profiles:  @gtsmassage   @promassagenet  @tiffanyblackden  @garyblackden

I would love to hear how more of you are using social media to spread the word about our work and educate your clients AND people who may find you on the periphery. :)

Best,

Tiffany
