Hi Everyone,

Was just wondering what yall's take on the mobile spa biz might be. I'm a new therapist in Dallas that would love to go into this particular aspect of the massage industry ( mainly performing services at spa parties ) but I'm having trouble locating a partner. One of the responses I received from my ad was from a therapist that's been in the industry for 12 years who commented that she had never considered the "entertainment" side of massage. I'm pretty sure I should be insulted by that, but can't figure out why she would not consider it serious massage.

What do yall think of the mobile spa industry?? As soon as I locate a partner I think its totally worth investing in.

Thanks, Fran

Hi, what do you mean by "partner"?  Are you looking for $$ or another therapist who can work parties?

I live in Austin, are you looking for someone in Dallas?

Hi Kelly,

I'm looking for a business partner that wants to be their own boss as I do. I chose the Mobile Spa aspect because its has no overhead, just fuel. It can be started with the barest of essentials ( we therapist already own a table/chair/supplies ). Wouldn't take a whole lot to get into business and improve as business picks up. Would like to do Spa Parties as well as other outcall massage jobs ( within safety parameters, that is ). Had originally planned to go it alone but found myself unexpectedly paranoid. Since there is safety in numbers I decided to locate a partner. Not having any luck unfortunately.

You live in Austin but would you happen to know of a therapist here in Dallas that may want to go into business for themselves? If so by all means give them my info so I can send links that would give them a better idea of what I have in mind. Have them Friend me on FaceBook. Please feel free to do the same.

Thanks for your reply. Hugs....

You really should think of spa parties as "supplemental" rather than a primary source of income..

The likelihood of booking an event for other than the 48 hours between Friday PM and Sunday lunch are pretty slim.

We get about 1 inquiry a week (we are in 15 cities) and they usually go someting like this "What is the cost of a spa party?", depends, how many people and what services they are interested in. "oh, lke 12 - 15 people, and everyone wants a manaicure/pedicure, facial and massage" How long is your event scheduled for? "about 4 hours"  do you have room in your home for 10 technicians and their equipment? "oh... we are in a condo...."

Or  -- "I see on your website the Time Out package for the manicure, express facial and 30 minute massage for $175. Is that per person?"

Spa parties are gravy, but likely to provide sustenance.

Thanks for the advice. I can now re-work my marketing strategy geared more toward more "primary" income services. And it kills me how people expect you to perform several services on them for a cheap cheap price. Wow. But thanks for the biz advice.I really appreciate it. If there is anything else that you can think of that will be helpful by all means SHARE.
