Hey all,

I am looking to buy some new robes for the spa I work at. We aren't the most expensive gig in town but we are a little higher than mid range. The last robes we had I believe were terry cloth and they look horrible now, all dingy and falling apart. Our clients have to walk outside in the robes and while we are in San Diego it can be down in the 50's when it's cold out. So we need robes that are medium heavy, that look and feel nice and will withstand many washings. Has anyone used bamboo robes? We are looking to keep the cost down to $20-30 per robe. Does anyone have a great website that does a discount for bulk orders etc,?

Thanks!

Amy

Bamboo falls apart after too many washings, especially if you are using a laundry service that may not be as careful as you would.

Telegraph Hill is the best source. More expensive than you are looking to spend -- you have to submit a wholesale inquiry for the best pricing -- but well worth it in the long run. We have had some robes last us 5 years.

I was attracted to bamboo cloth when it came out as a renewable resource. But on further research I found out that the production process is not desirable. It releases too many chemicals into the environment. It also can take a number of washings to clear out depending on the amount of chemical residue left by the manufacturer. Like plastics and paper it is a heavily polluting industry, which China specializes in since we have much more regulation of industrial pollution.

Hi there!

You can actually check out amazon for sets of robes. I saw they have them at around $15-$30 per robe. I'm not that sure for if there are discounts on bulk orders. It may be depends on the supplier.
