massage and bodywork professionals

a community of practitioners

I have been brainstorming this idea for a few weeks now and want some opinions on the idea.  I am big into supporting community volunteering.  I myself volunteer in my daughters girl scouts and Partners in Education for her school.  Wish I could do more but I need time with my kids.  Anyway,  with Thanksgiving approaching I want to show that I an others in the community are thankful for volunteers.

I would like to put a press release in the paper about this and have people nominate/enter a community volunteer they are thankful for to win a 60 minute massage.  This should get my business recognized in the paper to bring more clients in as well as possibly a new client who wins the massage.

Whats your opinion on this?  Or do you have any ideas to add to this.

Thank you all

As written, I see this more as a self-serving, marketing/promotional tool, not a way to honor community volunteers. What qualifications are needed to be nominated and who is the judge? It could come off more like a business sponsored popularity contest than a way to recognize the good work the volunteers bring to the community.

I would prefer to see you donate gift certificates to local volunteer organizations and let them decide who should get the massage or better yet, commit to volunteering your time to some local groups.

If I misunderstood you intentions, I apologize.

Laurie,

No apology necessary.  I see your point of view.  This is why I like to ask for others opinion.  I could see where this would end up as a popularity contest.  So back to thinking on what to do for the month of November.  Thank you :)

i think you want a way to give away a few massages to encourage more people to volenteer their time. An easy no fuss way to support volenteers is to do free chair massage for volenteer organizations or non-profits that you feel drawn to.  November is a great time to give away chair massage and bring your gift certificates with you.  I sold 7 one year doing free chair sessions for an hour each at various local businesses.
