Hi everyone,

Does anyone have experience or knowledge about this type of massage? I have a potential client and want to find out more about this specific training in massage.

Thank you

Diane

Hi Diane,

Check out the article "Massage and Parkinson's Patients" from Massage & Bodywork, available at http://www.massagetherapy.com/articles/index.php/article_id/289/Bod....

The National Parkinson Foundation has a number of client education publications available at http://www.parkinson.org/Page.aspx?pid=244. The manual "Fitness Counts" has some useful information for clients, although the info about massage is quite limited. It did provide this list of recommended reading, which I've copied below. The info in the manual and in the resources below detail a lot of work that is outside of the scope of practice for MTs, but would be useful info about what the client is dealing with and how it relates to movement.

I did my PhD thesis on using manual therapy with Parkinson's disease. There is a lot of information and references on my website www.TheBurnhamReview.com. or you can email me at theburnhamreview@juno.com --- kim Burnham
