What do you do to put your sessions over the top, and keep clients coming back for more?

Is there a certain way you set up your table for client comfort? An add-on that you include for free with every session? A small gift you send clients home with to remember you by? How do you set your practice apart?

Post your answers below, and you might see them in an upcoming issue of Massage & Bodywork magazine!

I have a 1 1/2" thick good-quality memory foam pad on my table, topped with a fleece pad.

In the winter I use a table warmer and a fleece blanket for clients who run cooler.

I have a Boiance face cradle and it's companion, The Float.  These are very popular!

I have colored sheets from JC Penney and work to remember clients' favorite colors.  Sometimes I use different-colored top and bottom sheets just for fun and creativity, and to brighten up the room.

I have playlists saved on my computer for clients who like a particular set of music; the playlists are named after the clients.

I use Bamboo Fusion heated bamboo sticks during every massage - a client favorite!

I have a diverse and useful skill set for solving problems for clients (headaches, lower back issues, sciatica pain, etc).  I learn something new every day and if I don't know how to solve an issue for someone, I ask someone who knows more than I do.

I individualize each session for each client so they always get what they need today (or as close to it as I can get!).  I listen to what they have to say, and also listen to what their bodies/tissues have to say.

I guess I should quit wondering why I'm tired at night! :-)  Now it's time for yoga and Wii Fit...

We always like to create a "five senses" experience. What do they smell, taste, touch, hear and see in our space? Add to that a phenomenal, personalized massage experience, lots of complimentary extras...aromatherapy, hot towel service, etc. Plus, we genuinely listen to our guests, remember their likes and dislikes, send cards when they are having a rough time, etc. They know we love them. It isn't just a job.

Great question!   I use a brand new veggie steamer that I bought from Walmart for $19.99.  In place of veggies, I place small sized washcloths that the veggie steamer makes nice and steamy, hot!  I place the hot, steamed towels on the back, feet or forehead of the client!  I add some essential oils blended to either grapeseed or coconut oil to uplift.  Orange essential oil is a great Christmas scent and is so uplifting!  The veggie steamer works just as great as those really super expensive Steamers.  Give this a try.  I also do foot reflexology on the feet and either before or after wrap their feet in a hot, towel for comfort!  I find placing one drop of essential oil blended with carrier base oil on the big toe really works great, too!

Thick padding on my table as well as a table warmer, soft, luxurious sheets and towels.  I offer a cup of herbal tea and cookie before leaving, then a bottled water for the road.

A few points I have gathered from our volunteer community at the MTSI Institute:

1) Place a warmer underneath the table especially in the winter

2) Use soothing scents and oils like eucalyptus - of course after asking your clients if it is ok and about their preferences

3) Always provide a glass/bottle of water after the massage - accompanied by a small mint chocolate or similar

4) Listen, listen, listen - show you care by understanding their issues/concerns and deliver exactly on that. This also goes for the room lighting, sounds/music, overall environment

5) A simple smile and hug goes a long wa
