Looking for some MT's who want to add exercise like P90X to their practices

About a year ago, I got my butt off my couch and into the gym in order to deal with stress of daily life. It made me feel better, but I had another goal - I wanted to start losing weight to be an example to my clients who thought it was too hard. I wasn't losing many inches or pounds, though. I know from my training as a naturopath and holistic nutrition classes that it is a simple concept - take in less calories than you burn - but, I had been fat since I was 5, so there is obviously a hormonal issue for me as well - anyway - To make a long story short, After more diets and programs than I can count, I was in the gym watching infomercials while working out on the elliptical, and found Slim in 6. I bought it for my birthday a few months later as I was having a hard time fitting the gym into my schedule. Dec 1 I started and in 6 weeks I lost 8 inches from my hips, 6 inches from my waist, 4 inches from my thighs, and 1.5 inches from my arms. My clients not only wanted to know what I was doing, but they wanted to know how to get their hands on it. I became a coach for the company. Now, I represent great workout programs like P90X, Slim in 6, Turbo Jam, Hip Hop Abs, Yoga Booty Ballet, ...etc. And i get to capitalize on the incredible marketing that the company does, when they give me leads from those ads. It's an awesome company, and they are focusing on eliminating obesity in America 1 work out at a time. feel free to check out my website www.beachbodycoach.com/achesaway or email me anytime emma@achesawaymt.com to ask questions.

So very well said Elaine. I thought this thread was about exercise. Excuse me for seeing it in a different light.

again, so glad that you are happy with curves, but this discussion is really for people that are interested in p90x, which is so completely different from curves. First, the beachbody programs are for use at home. Folks who need to get in a workout and can't make it to the gym love that convenience. also, all of the programs put out by beachbody combine cardio and strength training allowing for faster results. third, beachbody programs are marketed both by infomercial and by independant beachbody coaches, like me. Coaches can access leads from those infomercials for free once they have only 2 active coaches in their team - which I have. The mission of beachbody is to end obesity in america. They make money, yes, but the company gives back to the coaches so much, and also provides cash and prizes as motivation for folks to continue working out. In this day and age, when childhood obesity is at an all time high and the likelihood of our children to outlive us is less and less, it is truly important to start teaching healthy habits of exercise and nutrition. The best example we can give our children is ourselves! But what I really love, is that the beachbody programs are fun - and they also have programs for children to help them to see exercise as fun. Beachbody also has a web portal where you can log in your exercise, plan your meals, calculate your bmi, enter daily prize drawings for doing workouts, connect with others doing the programs, chat with trainers, download recipes, ...etc. There is really no way to compare this with anything else - it is the first and only type of program like this. It is a complete package. Oh - and we also have the only program endorsed by the American Diabetes Association - The Kathy Smith workouts and meal planning program.
So, What I am looking for are other massage therapists who would like to be able to provide all of this to their clients. go to www.beachbodycoach.com/achesaway

Elaine, I had an awakening when I joined Curves which is for women only. There is all kinds of shapes and sizes and ages in women and most of them are older I would say 40's on up and most are over weight. I feel so comfortable here and the workout is low resistant impact and so effective. I have been so surprised by my membership which I am using 4-5 times a week. I love it.

Hi Travis ...couldn't resist in responding ...your accomplishment is amazing! i have been curious about the P90X. I am usually skeptical about the info commercials I see on tv but I have to say I am impressed. I have about 50 lbs to lose and not interested in joining a gym (too self conscious of being overweight) I think I may give the P90X a try.

Hi Emma,
Congratulations on your feat, of your progress. I kinda know what you mean August 10 2009 I weighed 245,exactly 90 days later doing P90X I lost 50 lbs and in the process of maintaining I lost another 12 lbs and In the best shape Ive ever been in my life. I thought about trying to do the P90X coaching because a lot of people have been very kind to me with their comments about my weight loss, however it works both ways because a lot of people ask me if Im okay because they have worried about me losing weight so fast, and I tell them Ive never felt better. Now I work in a YMCA and maintain my business there and try to do classes there when I can and recently just started back on P90X again and see what happens, so I have to do it away from work. But I do not mind I love it. I think if there are any unbeleivers out there that are curious about wether it will work for them GO FOR IT ! On another hand I was on Diabetes meds for 10 yrs, Im off now which Im very happy to say It did good for me I think if a person is not afraid to workout you can do it to. You will love it. Peace Travis
no problem, i guess the topic "looking for some MT's who want to add exercise like p90x to their practices" could have been misleading. again, the important thing is to get moving and feel good. But I did start this thread in hopes of finding other like minded individuals who would want to offer in home exercise to their clients. I found lots of my clients wanted to know what I was doing and I have had a great deal of support in the process from my clients. Losing 9 inches off of my hips within 8 weeks is just amazing to me, and I'm excited to share that with others, just as am sure you are about curves, but my purpose for the thread was to focus more just on beachbody programs.
