Who would you like to study oncology massage with and where would you like to study? 3 Replies

I'm wondering what kind of experiences you have had in your oncology massage studies? It would be nice if we could all share information about our classes. I'd love to hear from the teachers as well as the students. What do you like best about your classes? What are the most important points to focus on during an oncology massage session? What would you like learn in addition to the knowledge you have already gained about oncology massage? Where do you go to get accurate information regarding…Continue

Has anyone seen the lastest article in Massage Magazine, " Medical Massage,How Touch Benefits Cancer patients"? 6 Replies

I am looking to discuss this article as I feel it is missing a great deal of information that is already available.  Not a mention of Gayle MacDonald's book, " Medicine Hands," or of any of the established educational/certification programs presently offered throughout the United States.Too bad the authors missed a great opportunity to show they did their research.Continue

Hello All,
Hope everyone one is doing well. I have a question to see if anyone has heard of EXPRESSOOO MASSAGEWORX? They are sponsoring a CEU class with Cheryl Chapmen with the caviat that states "Become a Certified Oncology Massage Therapist. This three day training provides 24CEU's which prepares you to be certified as a Oncology Massage Therapist." Does anyone know about Certification for Oncology Massage? I was struck by this because I do not know of any certification. But I do not know all. Thanks for your thoughts and inputs...

I very happy to have found this group. I volunteer at the cancer center of our local hospital. I find this work immensely rewarding. I look forward to learning and sharing. Also, it looks like I just missed a wonderful conference. Are there any future conferences of this type being offered in the near future?

I am looking forward to sharing and learning about each and everyone's thoughts and concerns. I hope that I can contribute to the discussions.. My experiences include pre and post surgical treatments accounting for about 5% of my clients.

The conference was wonderful. Thanks to all for the energy freely given to create the space. I'm so glad I got to participate. Being a solo practitioner it felt great to be part of the larger community. Many blessings on all of our work.

Great Job Tina, I heard excellent reviews of your sessions in the chatter around the campus and afterwards. I have pics of you, as you know, if you like email me and I will send them to you.
Thanks everyone that attended for the commitment to strengthening this modality. Our numbers continue to grow and as a result so will the field.

Just back home in AZ a few minutes ago and Lucille, I heard my name being typed. :-) Thought the conference was great! Really enjoyed putting the person with the name. What wonderful energy was pulsing through the event! I know Eeris, was also there because she stopped me to say hello. Hope everyone that was there will post their thoughts or email them to me so we can make the next one in 2013 even better.
Lucille I'll send you some pics if you like.

So did anyone besides Anita and I go to the Healing Summit? I thought it was wonderful. Getting to see so many people working in the oncology realm was just something that I cannot describe. Listening to everyone share and ask questions whether they are someone giving a lecture or sidebars in the vendor hall. So Anita what did you think?

Thank you for having such a site, I am looking forward to learning so much more.
