massage and bodywork professionals

a community of practitioners

Greetings, All:

I will be done with school at the end of May!  <happy dance>  I live in a relatively small town in rural Kansas City.  There is a spa here in town that has a massage therapist listed (not asking for new one).  I went in last week, introduced myself to the manager, said I knew she was busy but would love to talk to her about their massage therapy needs and business.  She said she would like to talk to me next Wednesday afternoon (the 23rd).

Here is a link to their info:  http://odessaaddedtouch.com/staff/carol-peters/1280/

1) the photo is NOT the owner, and I'm assuming they are all that way.

2) notice it says her name and the title of massage therapist...the other massage therapist states her schooling, but not the owners?  Pretty sure you're required to be licensed in the State of Missouri???  How do I ask her to clarify her status?  Other topics I can think of asking include:

3) frequency of clients

4) marketing

5) supplies provided, sheets, etc.

6) records kept?

I had a business class, wherein we created a business plain.  I am interested in setting up a business here close to "home", and not driving an excess of 30 minutes (especially at nearly $4 a gallon for gas).  ULTIMATELY, I want to work on a schedule I can set and work around my daughter's schedule at school about a 2 minute drive from my home.

Can anyone give me thoughts for my conversation with the owner, or have any questions to clarify my ambitions???!!!

Thanks in advance!

Jen

You should ask about the retail side. If you're required to sell products, quota's you'll need to meet, and how many massages you'll be expected to perform on a daily basis. Good Luck!!
Thanks, Tonja!
Go get 'em Jennifer! Be confident and secure the hours off, you'll need to work with a young daughter. Best of wishes!!!
