Do you trade services with other MTs or health-care workers? How often and how do you make it work?

Hi Tara!

I am relatively new to the feild but after I graduated there were a few months where I didnt really trade massages with any of my LMT buddies but lately I've made a point to change that and was trading at least once ever 2 weeks and lately it has been every week between the different LMT friends that I have. I find it extremely beneficial not only because our bodies appreciate having the work done but also, it really helps to keep one from becoming stagnant. the more I trade, the more I find myself thinking in new ways and using new techniques I may not have considered before when working on my own proffesional clients.

I don't trade with other therapists. I prefer to pay for the service, enjoy the massage and move on with no obligations. The type of work I do may not appeal to a trade partner so I feel by paying, they are also under no obligation to receive a massage that may not need or want.

Another problem is scheduling. I have limited hours available for self-care, work and family. I can't always schedule a trade for times the other therapist is available. This is not an issue if I pay for the service.

That sounds great, Casey! Thank you for your reply. :-)
