What seems to be the primary modality or part of a modality technique that you use in on a regular basis?

We all have tools in our "tool box" that are parts of different modalities that we have learned. Which modality or modality technique do you find that you use regularly? Why do you think you call upon this modality so often?

I have a heat pack and a paraffin tub. These two along with aroma seems to be the bomb. paraffin gets those hard to heat areas on the knuckles and leaves hands soft. THe hot pack seems to 'melt' the area and initially relax the muscles in the most tense areas. it is a moist heat and penetrates better than a heating pad. I also use ice a lot. Especially with those I work very deep tissue in target areas.
Interesting you should ask this question as it is one of the questions on the massage survey.

Just some feedback from the %'s - most people are using deep tissue techniques, followed by Swedish massage !
Thanks Gloria for responding, I'd like to hear what each individual does and see where this survey takes us. I don't think the survey opens the door enough for broader answers. Regular technique use depends on the type of service you provide, the clientele you care for and what seems to be that little extra like Allison referred to. In this question I'm looking for more specific answer than "deep tissue" - which modality do people consider "deep tissue" if that is what they use?

For my clientele which is mostly elderly and medically frail deep tissue is out of the question most times but, trigger point can do the trick in place of deep tissue. Swedish and reflexology are primary components in my practice. Never having been a believer that "deep tissue" is always the answer, most people don't have a clue what deep tissue really is or does. They just say it because they want the most for their money and believe that is what gets the best value.

I once had a client who was a large male construction worker and muscular, he insisted on 2 hours of deep tissue before the session started, I told him I would do some deep tissue but would also use what his body indicated it needed. I told him if he didn't like the session half way through he didn't have to pay for it. Guess what? That big, muscular, deep tissue adamant client, got pieces of swedish, reflexology, LaStone, trigger point, myotheraphy, headache relief techniques and a head/neck massage. He became a believer, is one of my best tippers and NEVER asks for deep tissue.

So I look forward to hearing what is being used by everyone and then posting the results here. ,
