I just found my first contribution, maybe...

Has anyone ever heard of Elton Bates? Dr Art Mollen sez of the Elton Bates massage program, "This touching program is the break-through that massage therapy has bee waiting for."

The program is dedicated to and inspired by Katie Lee Bates.

I don't remember buying it, but on the inside of a 1" three ring hard cover binder it has a penciled in "special" price of $7.50 with a two sided cassette tape, one side instructional, one side music. The sequence being taught is a 45-60 minute massage. It is copyrighted 1984.

Bates would now be 80... Mollen has a web presence as a D.O. Maybe I will contact him to see if he is still in touch with Bates.

I also agree with Kris Kelley and The Rev. Who wants the overhead? The responsiblity? We are all busy and this could be a lot to take on... The idea of having everything digital make total sense to me. ....my thoughts.....

I 2nd Kris Kelley's thoughts... Google is doing that for books and a number of magazines have done such things. Would you believe you can freely access every issue of 'The Yoga Journal' because of Google. Massage Magazine and the MTJ could do such a thing and the site created by Mike Hinkle could link to those.

Here's a thought....as opposed to spending money on an actual physical facility, how about making it digital? Scan everything in as text, pictures, etc., etc., and provide it that way. Peeps can pay to subscribe and gain access, the $'s go to those performing the work, those who submitted their work which is on display, or charity organizations.

Mi' thinks Robert Calvert would be upset if his book was used as the cover photo for a 'Massage Therapy' project.

by the way--colorado doesn't appeal to me as calm--beautiful yes, but the wow factor of the mountains are just too majestic for me--greener is calmer to me--but that's just my opinion. the red rocks of arizona also are a wow factor--while sedona is touted the massage mecca of the world--perhaps someplace that natural running creeks or small waterfall--a building already in a natural setting--lots of green around--perhaps someone with an artistic hand could come up with a few statues related to the industry to place strategically outside the building in a garden type setting--this place that would house info on the history and current activities as it relates to our industry, could be kept simple--some artifacts, etc. as well as much of it on computers that could be set up for folks to watch showing many more things than what could be actually "housed". Just some random thoughts running through my head as I await my next client's arrival.

centrally located is a plus and fair. keeping things green--how about finding a building that has already been constructed, but has been abandoned, foreclosed or whatever so we can bring it back to life for a much lower cost. i'm alwasy concerned when folks have a great idea but runaway with it by spending too much money--it's usually the same for charities--great ideas running amuck without much thought to saving money for the real cause...it's early in the game so the thoughts of many will bring exciting and viable solutions to seeing this project through.

I would think a calm and beautiful place would be Colorado. Somewhere that makes you feel renewed and refreshed. (And I am also looking for more info...as we go along.)

Arizona maybe? Sedona? Big Sur or near Esalen? Ojai?
Trying to think of places where people escape to that have
to do with physical and spiritual reenergizing.
Blessings
