Hi everyone,

I currently work at a spa. There are many things I like about it, especially being able to focus on massage and not on marketing (clearly not my strong suit).

We are required to sell retail products, massage series, and encourage re-booking. This is my downfall and consequently don't get as many clients as the others.

Any suggestions on how to sell or get the client to re-book?

Thanks,
Carolyn
When choosing a spa to work for, the therapeutic integrity of your job description and your compensation structure are key considerations for candidacy. Ambiance of the locale is, to me, a non-factor. Ask to be paid what you are worth, and you can create ambiance at home. Working at a business for its ambiance is like marrying someone because he/she is attractive. What counts is the love and understanding you share. There are plenty of spas out there, choose well, and don't let the spa glamour…

A new spa concept has taken hold of Silicon Valley's recession-weary pods. "Happy Feet" are springing up like mushrooms all over the place. One right next to my house. How convenient!

These chinese-run and staffed airport lounge "spas" seem to be thriving. I hear this coment about certain spas: "oh its a good working environment, the ambiance is great, but the pay sucks." If an employer does not pay you fairly, other factors do not add up to anything. Spa work is not a spa vacation. You're not the one getting the massage. Find good work. Get paid. Go on vacation.
