Yes, that is ME's rate.  $49 massage, $15 of it to the LMT, and that is their nationwide rate.  They are slick.  Here along the Coast, they call that "introductory rate", but if they pay a $10 (?) membership fee they get that rate year round.  W/O it, its $59 or is it $69.   The idea is to own the client-- they BELONG, like buying a gym membership rather than paying $5 for the one visit you make a month.

Also... OMG, Massage Envy is paying LMTs $15/massage? Are you serious?

is this the local Georgia rate? in Alaska, LMTs make about $50 per massage. I know, I was there for 3 years. If you don't mind the cold...pack up and go.

I agree with Gary here. The market is inudated with fresh-out-off-school LMT, in a hurry to pay their student debt. A local chiropractor in Warner Robins was hiring last week (he has business a plenty) but pays only $25/massage. At this low rate, I turned it down but I know he will have no problem finding a slave. If anyone interested by this kind of job, let me know, I will give you the infos.

Personally, I will pass.

Hell, every market is inundated with LMTs.  Locally, in the poorest state in the Union (MS) there's four massage schools within 30 miles, who knows how many more in the next 70 miles.  Each graduates 10-20 hungry LMTs every 3 months.  So many, Massage Envy ($15 to the LMT) is turning applicants away.  This month one just opened 7 miles away, and it is killing me with the mailers they sent to every mailbox on the Gulf Coast.

Hey Gary, actually I go by Cassidy. There's a good market here in Athens but its also inundated by LMTs. I work for UGA and do very well there. I also have my own practice but that's not very profitable yet, mostly because of the Groupon deal I have running, but it's people in the door so I'm not complaining!

Hello, Cassidy.  Can I call you Cassie?  I'm in Biloxi, on the MS Gulf Coast.  Been in business now entering my 6th month.  This is depressed area; there's shipbuilding and there's casinos.  Average pay here for working stiffs is about $9 per hour.  Among my regular clients are a lawyer, an MD, a realtor, two 60+ I give less than half price treatments.  The majority of my business is the tourist trade who come calling when they are in pain and it can't wait till they get home...and I'm less than half the rate charged by the casino spas.  So, I expect my business to grow substantially during the coming summer.

But a Massage Envy just opened five miles away, and their grand opening push is hurting me this month.

Way back in the early 70s I worked for a few months in Athens, managing a Burger King.  All those students you have a good potential customer pool.

Hey y'all. I'm an LMT in Athens. I work for UGA in the physical therapy department of the health center and I run my own small business in a gym. Just wanted to say hi.
