Hi again, Luzviminda!

I've been a therapist for seven years now, own and operate my own business.  I perform outcall massage in the clients home.

I'm currently looking to change my business, get a central location with a good friend of mine, John Kenny, D.C.  Dr. Kenny runs his own chiropractic business, owns and operates the massage school I attended as well as a school for medical billing, medical assisting, dental assisting, etc., etc.  He's a busy guy!  He has a room in the upstairs of his building that is perfect for massage, so I'm looking to perform massage out of there, since I'm always at the school anyway as I'm also the massage CE event coordinator  ;)

Hope this helps with a bit about me!

Kris

Yes massage is more expensive here. I charge US$ 70 per hour. I pay the Therapist $35. Most spas and chain massage places pay the therapist only $17/hr. A nice spa will charge $120/hr. I think about half of therapists are not licensed. They work doing out call or from their homes. Some of them work for chiropractor offices.

I became licensed in 1999 but my first class was 1973. In 1998 the company I managed had many worker injuries (74) that year. The owners told me I must find a solution. So I suggested a massage program at the company. They agreed to pay for school and I volunteered to attend at night. When I got my license The chair program started. I did this for 5 years and then hired others to do it. The first year injuries dropped to 14 and then 2 every year after. I now run chair massage for workers at 5 locations. I also work full time at mt massage clinic.

So that is the story. It is my passion also.

Welcome Luzviminda! I hope you find the site useful. While many discussions apply here in America they also have general application. I will be interested in your views looking from another country and culture as regards to massage.

Hi Luzviminda!

I suggest using this site as a tool.  What do you need to improve your massage practice, or what are you looking to learn?  Figure this out then so a search on this group or post a discussion!  It's what I do!  ;)
