Your Migraine Could Be Telling You Something – Are You Listening?

I never get headaches unless I drink more than one cocktail late at night. I am sure we have all awoken to a screaming headache after a night of drinking but for those who suffer from migraines, this is no

easy matter.

Recently, I’ve seen articles about migraines so I thought it may be helpful to write about what I have seen in clients who suffer from this debilitating issue.

First, many people who suffer…

Stem Cell Treatment – Science is making headway

One of my fascinations of the human body is DNA and Stem Cells as they are the gateway to rejuvenating health on many levels. In European research labs they have been testing different treatments ranging from

strokes and Alzheimer’s to neurological conditions and even cancer treatments.

However, most of the data obtained is from client testimonials, not published results or peer reviewed studies. That…

Does massage help improve blood flow to muscles?

There was a recent article http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/06/02/phys-ed-does-massage-help-after-exercise/ in the NY Times where associate professor, Michael Tschakovsky performed a study to answer this question: “Does massage increase blood

flow to muscle and/or reduce the quantity of lactic acid after

treatment?" His specialty is the study of blood flow to…

MELT Success Stories

Although I am in the midst of a busy Sunday tending to improving my business and my website, I had to look over some of my forums on the instructor's side of my site to see what was up. It's when I read

entries such as this I am excited to say MELT is helping and we are

ready to do a study directly on some benefits of MELT! See below an

entry from one of our influential MELT Instructors:

"Every year I take a physical and hope for the best. This year I was…

Getting ideas about Enzymes

If blogs like this don't make seem like a bit of a freak when it comes to learning, I just don't know what to say. It's like an obsession. Once there is an idea in my head I can't help but become an

investigator or self-proclaimed researcher until I start finding people

who sound like they have some answers.

A young woman I met last year at IDEA corresponds with me and follows my work from time to time. After the blog on…

Connective tissue is an important tissue... one more reason to know more about it!

Yesterday in the NY Times, Sports section there was an article "Studies Link Rare Ailment in Cartilage to Pain Pumps" that was rather unfortunate. The article was about young athletes who went in for basic shoulder surgeries like one for a torn labrum and a couple of years later developed chondrolysis - an "ailment" where the cartilage degenerates, dies and leaves the joint to grind together. As with all medical mishaps the article shows everyone from the anesthetic companies right down to the… Continue

Seeking Like Minded Individuals

I admit it. I am new at internet networking. Since April of last year, I now have an actual website, that sells products, explains who I am, what I do, and all about my method, MELT. I now have a blog (I've had one since April, I am just now learning how to use my blog and what it means to blog). I mean, really. With all of the time I spend doing research, living, eating, and breathing the science of the neurofascial net... who's got time for learning how to set up a hootsuite! So instead, I… Continue

Chronic Fatigue is not all in your head

Over the past 4 months, there have been more and more research studies coming out about a particular virus that is linked to Chronic Fatigue. I have seen people with chronic fatigue many, many times in my office. It is not only debilitating, most doctors up until recently call it a psychological disorder, nothing more.

But recent research is linking Chronic Fatigue to a virus called XMRV. This virus is related to the AIDS virus so most of the studies in years past were… Continue

The Onion Tree

Anatomist and theologian Gil Hedley, PhD., founder of Somanautics and Integral Anatomy, has been a profound teacher of mine. His layer by layer approach in dissection brings new meaning to whole-body connection and the inherent links from skin to bone.

In his human dissection labs, I have had the opportunity to explore the inner workings of the human body first hand. This has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the connective tissue and connect what I sense in the body… Continue

Do you believe?

Some people don't want to see new ideas. But new ideas are happening. Connective tissue is being viewed by some as far more than a packing material. Those in the collegiate world will dismiss the ideas that connective tissue isn't relevant when discussing posture, longevity, or movement. I disagree. I am not the scientist... I am merely a messenger and practitioner of hands-on bodywork. For the naysayers... step outside your box and take a look below.

Inflammation: A Leading Cause of Aging

What is inflammation? Why and where does it occur? Ask 10 different practitioners, I am not sure you would get the same answer. The best way I can explain inflammation is to tell it to you from what I feel I know about inflammation. As a practitioner, I see it in my clients as often as I see it in myself. But for me, I am obsessed with the process and learning how to ward off the bad inflammation but also harnessing the good inflammatory responses that arise. Did you even know inflammation can… Continue
