massage and bodywork professionals

a community of practitioners

So I have been a massage therapist for over a year now.

One of the main things that still annoy me is rude customers.

Sometimes I have to be a receptionist if we have less customers.

Every once in a while I get someone who is rude and looks at me like I am below them.

Then I have to massage them and it's tough when you have to touch them for 1-2 hours.

How do you deal with rude customers effectively?

Thanks!

That’s one of the challenges of our profession. Especially if you work in a spa type/like environment. In a medical environment not so much. Regardless you always have to do your best. I’ve had clients that held me in God like status, and others that hated me and complained to management about me. I was always doing my best regardless of who I was working on. It’s not easy, but the only people we have control over is ourselves. This profession can wear you out physically, as well as emotionally. Breath deep. Do your work as beat you can. Don’t take anything personal. Stretch, give yourself self care every day. Those people are far less frequent then the good ones.

Try to just not pay attention to their rattles and rants. They come and go but hte good ones stay. Karma will reach them.
