Alaska board for LMT

Needed:
LMT Board
Panel of seven LMT in Alaska
Why?
To be recognized by the health profession as a provider!
Chiropractors should not control massage therapy and it's practitioners!
It is our constitutional right to provide services and not be controlled by another profession.
Fair and free trade should be utilized by every profession including massage therapy.

What's going on up there, Jacqueline? What can we do to help? Surely you could get seven therapists that agree they should control their own destiny. By law, is the Chiro. Board in charge of you or are they saying if you can get 7 they'll let you form your own board?

Hey Mike thanks for your insight. I am just starting my quest but have not contacted any legislature but I cam always find seven agreeable therapists. Any information you have would be useful and embodied by all therapists in Alaska. Have you had any sharable experiences with state legislative boards? What would the next logical step be? Most state massage boards include MTs, a public member with no vested interest in massage, and many of them have a physician. Our state (NC) does. I would suggest you contact the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards, and they will probably be glad to have Sally Hacking, the queen of government relations in the United States, to assist you on this mission. 42 boards belong to the Federation. www.fsmtb.org AND if your state has an AMTA Chapter, most chapters have a GR person as well. You will need an attorney. The Federation can advise you on all that.
