Here is some information from AMTA regarding writing a business plan....

Business Plan Basics
Creating a business plan is your first and most important step toward earning a living as a massage therapist. Putting your career goals and operational plans into writing is important, whether you plan to work as an employee or be self-employed.

Purpose of a Business Plan
A business plan helps you define your goals and evaluate realistically whether or how those goals can be achieved. If you are planning to borrow money, a financial institution will base its decision to loan you money or not largely on the merits of your business plan. Having a detailed outline for your business plan and carefully researching all the information that goes into it will help you avoid those pitfalls.

Sections of a Business Plan
Basic goals and objectives
Long-term and short-term goals

Background information
Consumer demand in your geographic region
Services (and products) you plan to provide
Experience, skills, and credentials
Permits and licenses required
Challenges and risks
Name of business
Your target market
Your secondary market
Marketing plan (advertising, public relations, direct mail, promotions)
Location and hours of practice
Equipment, furniture, and supplies required
Other personnel, if any
Business policies
Financial Objectives and Plans
Start-up expenses
Monthly expenses
Revenue projections
