"I usually leave a couple bottles of essential oil out for this reason. Not only do clients pass gas, therapists do too. If it happens and it's bothersome just get out some smelly oils...eucalyptus or lemongrass are both fairly potent....and…"

"It's good you clarified that. It did sound as if you would stop the session. It's just one of those things we all have to deal with.  "

Cecelia "Cece" Rex replied to Laura Allen's discussion More Myths of Massage
"When I attended massage school it was taught not to massage the ankles because of the meridian that runs through the ankle and the likelihood of a problem arising. It was taught to be safe rather than sorry and to avoid the area until a certain…"

"This is a WOULD WANT TO not a Will Stop a session type of question. It is just that, a question. I am not the most clear person at times and want to make it clear that I will not stop a session for anything so trivial.I apologize for my lack of…"

"I agree with Laura.  I feel for a client that came in looking for compassion and some kind of relief from someone they thought was a professional therapist and then be treated with disrespect.  In this day and age, not only will such…"

Laura Allen replied to Cecelia "Cece" Rex's discussion Other than harassment, what would make you want to cut a session short?
"I can't believe any experienced massage therapist would cut a session short over someone passing gas. It is a natural body function and some people can't help it. If they say "I'm sorry" or "excuse me" it…"

Short of harassment, I would want to stop a session for people that pass odoriferous gas and then not excuse themselves or even acknowledge that its happened. There are only two of us in the room and I know I didn't do it. See More

Need a little help

Hello Fellow Professionals,

I just wanted some opinions on this matter. If you could work for yourself or work for someone else, who would you choose? If you choose yourself-how many hours a week do you work? If you choose someone else how many hours are you working?

Is there any one else?

I hve been wanting to begin a business of my own for some time and just when I think that it is all in order....I am here writing about how I still want it. Things are coming along but I still have trouble with certain aspects of business building when it comes to staying under the radar of the competition. Is there anyone else who might have run into this and if so would you be willing to share a couple ways to go about helping me in fixing this issue?
