The other day I had a new client that came in complaining of lower back pain.   I asked her if she has seen anyone else for her back pain....she said she has tried chiropractic and has had several massages.. The last therapist that worked on her told her she had a lot of knots in her lower back..   I palpated her entier lumbar and hip area... I found no tender areas at all... Yet she said she felt her pain in a band accross her lower back upper sacral area... I have no idea what the other therapist was feeling because there was no palpatory pain in those areas... I knew it must be refered pain from somewhere else... and that band of lower back pain is a pain referal area for the stomach... I had her turn over and sure enough there was a very tender sore spot in her lower abb below and slightly to the right of her belly button...In a minute that was gone...and so was her back pain...If the area they feel the pain in is not tender to touch..  and they comment that the pain is deep inside.. There is a good chance that its refered pain from somewhere else. And in her case it was.  It does no good to just blindly dig on imagined knots. Therapists are always telling me what they feel.  I pay little  attention to what I feel, and a lot of attention to what the client feels. In the attachment there is a picture of her problem.  Few therapists ever palpate the abbs.  For clients that suffer headaches and or lower back pain.  Its a good idea to check the abbs out.

Good advice! I just started studying acupressure, and constipation can cause frontal headaches. I will never have enough time to learn everything I want to! :)

Well learning never stops...
